Kids don’t always want to put on sunscreen. Here are some helpful ways to get your child on board with wearing sunscreen!
- Break the task into more manageable pieces. Start with making him/her touch the lotion. The next day have your child put it on their hands. Each day, push your child a little farther until (s)he can tolerate sunscreen.
- You can use the attached template to help. Print the thermometer and laminate or put in a sheet protector. Each day, use a dry erase marker to color how far your child gets toward the goal.
- Make it a game! Your child can apply sunscreen on you and then you apply it on him/her.
- If you have expired sunscreen, make a sensory pan for your child with the sunscreen to play with.
